Going Haute, Staying Contemporary
To penetrate Haute Hippie designer and founder Trish Wescoat Pound by a recent lookbook shoot with her wild blond curls, jeans tucked into gray suede Givenchy OTK boots, and topped off with a slouchy embroidered sweater wrap, you’d never guess that her sobriquet was once Our Lady of Wainscott. (The high-decibel soundtrack of Led Zeppelin served apt beyond steer the point home.) But years ago, while Wescoat Pound was chancellor of bargains at Theory, her manner was everything that rank connotes. Still, Pound, who began Haute Hippie in 2008, inhabits her newish look (because Fall 2011, she’s dubbed it “Ro-Bo” as Rock ‘n’ Roll Bohemian) so certainly, you kind of must deem her when she says it was forever a portion of her.
Happily, Haute Hippie isn’t overly haute, selling at a solidly present-day amount point. Though with its unabashed use of hand-embroideries from India, hand-knit sweaters from Uruguay trimmed with Mongolian lamb, and pelt, fur, and more fur, the moniker doesn’t accurate prevaricate. “I grew up in contemporary,” says Wescoat Pound. “I obtain the democratization of elegance and how to make the right production at the right price.” That’s apparent from her robust sales at Lane Crawford, Net-a-Porter, Mytheresa.com, Bergdorf, and Shopbop.com.
Those sales are what Wescoat Pound, with her lusty sales planning backdrop, has been establishing for she’s flown somewhat below the form radar for the quondam couple years. She’s slowly changing that. But instead of staging a mainstream week presentation for Fall 2011, she resolved to shoot a lookbook with 3 of-the-moment models: Naomi Preizler, Mathilde Frachon, and Imogen Morris Clarke. The accumulation follows in the same capillary for she’s been doing. It’s a floored vintage magpie sensibility that has a straight line from Talitha Getty, Stevie Nicks, and Anita Pallenberg via to Kate Moss and Sienna Miller in the early aughts. In other words,Cheap The North Face Footwear, clothing that these girls appeared to thoroughly enjoy rocking out in aboard set.
